Education, education, education?

23 Nov 2006 - LP

Yesterday's Ofsted report reveals that more than half of secondary schools are still failing to deliver a decent standard of education. And this is almost 10 years after Tony Blair came to power with a priority of "education, education, education."

Doubling the spending on education and setting more targets cannot be the solution for improved results. For example, city academies are costing the taxpayer millions of pounds but still lag behind with no major improvements.  It's time the government looked to more radical solutions, like education vouchers for parents.
