Liberal Democrats

  • Commenting on new Office of National Statistics figures which show that in 2005 there was a rise in transport emissions, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said "All the effort in tackling carbon emissions elsewhere is being cancelled out by the continuing rise in transport pollution. This underlines the urgent need for green taxes on cars and planes, not to raise revenue - other taxes should be cut - but to changes behaviour. Without a serious plan to tackle transport emissions, there is a large hole in the Government's climate change strategy."
